Frederick explained for ‘Universiteit Vlaanderen’ how pigeons can find their way back home.
“Pigeons are sometimes released 1000's of kilometres from home, and yet they find their way back. How do they do that? Well, they simply have an exceptional sense of orientation and combine different techniques to determine their direction of flight. Prof Frederick Verbruggen, experimental psychologist at Ghent University, sat down with us to talk about these flying GPSs.”
