Participants should have an advanced knowledge of English and ideally some experience with writing in a scientific academic style.

Content

This course aims to provide instruction to support scientists in improving their communication skills and enhancing research dissemination, by focusing on writing productivity, quality, and confidence. It consists of three complementary workshops, tailored for ecologists and encompassing the different steps of the writing process:

  • conceptualising writing time
  • structuring writing time
  • writing process


Objective

At the end of the course, participants will be able to: 

  • take concrete steps to develop sustainable writing habits
  • understand the writing process and use this understanding to gain greater control over their writing
  • apply structured approaches to organising writing time in order to improve consistency and productivity
  • acquire writing-related skills applicable to their own research field rather than generic advice
  • engage in constructive discussions about expectations, confidence in sharing written work, and effective feedback practices between supervisors and doctoral researchers.
